PREMIER ISSUE OF "E-COMMERCE RULES"

From:     The TeLeCom Alliance Newsroom
Subject:  Business 2 Business; 2 B or not 2 B
Author:   Alliance Director, Christopher Rudy

 Greetings from E-ComRules!

I'm starting up this new list for "Community/Network Building through E-Commerce".

Even though the "rules" I refer to here would apply to network-building for any community, whether that be religious, educational, ethnic, health care, governmental, etc. I'm focusing on the business community for two reasons:

--First it is arguable the most powerful institution of our society and the major force affecting world conditions.  The currency of commerce is the engine of civilization.

--Second, the process of community/network building in the business community is typically more successful than in the other communities, as discussed below.

So why should you read E-ComRules and catch the Next Big (4th) Wave of the computer/Internet revolution?

It's simple: The rate of change is accelerating and if you want to get ahead with “Net gain” you’ve got to pay attention to the pattern of change and see what’s coming to define, build and ride the e-commerce wave for all it's (Net) worth.  Attention pays!

If you snooze you'll lose to those willing to take advantage of the breakthrough opportunity to own your own life by building your own community network..

Work smart now so you don’t have to work hard later.

 Enjoy this premier issue!

 Christopher

IN THIS ISSUE:

-------------------- WHY E-COMMERCE RULES THE I-NET

The Internet (I-Net) is where "I" is empowered like never before to own your own life, learning, health, business, etc.  Cast your Net on the 4th Wave waters and given enough "heart" (HEARTware is the 4th wave master key),  your "Net worth" floweth over.

New rules create new business.   It's interesting how the keys to success for the most profitable Internet companies is typically how they broke the old rules and set new standards for the New Economy via the new I-Net rules.

Historically he who had the gold, made the rules.  But now the gold mine is the Net for those who "mind it". The Internet now rules the longest economic boom in history with its extraordinary growth stocks.  Why?  Because millions of people online will "take stock" of your product or service with their attention when you have the right kind of web site that builds credibility and trust.  With the right sequence of persuasion, you can "layer" their attention with value-upon-value until they buy what you sell.  And with a happy client/customer they will keep coming back for more as a new member of your network "community".

However, if you do what you've always done (think local/small), you'll get what you've always got.  But if you reinvent yourself with wholly new ways of thinking and acting "globally" with strategic Internet positioning, packaging and promotion that's whole enough, bold enough and told enough... victory!  You'll connect with the masses who want what you've got.

In fact the Internet has become an extraordinary mirror for one's own self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think you can or can't succeed online... you're right!

Success truly begins between your ears.  If you suffer "stinking thinking" (paradigm paralysis) regarding the extraordinary opportunity for optimizing your business on the Internet, it's time to get a check-up from the neck up!

The new rules for increasing your "Net worth" aren't rocket science.  But it takes a wholly different way of looking at business then most businesses are used to.  Anyone can apply them to "trend-fit" their business and catch the wave as this powerful new business media goes mainstream, which it is for the "B2B" Community (see newsclip following).

But common sense of these "new rules" is still uncommon, and the most powerful old paradigm special interests in the world (and their mainstream media minions) have a vested interest in "holding the line" against change.  So there are a lot of mixed signals out there about e-commerce.  And many successful e-commerce businesses are reluctant to share their secrets with someone who could become their competition.

If in real estate the key is "location, location, location", then on the Internet it is "positioning, positioning, positioning".  To the extent you position yourself correctly with your customers or clients under the new E-Com rules, they will position their business with you.

So pay attention to these new "positioning" rules whereby new clients will "take stock" of your business.

If you trend-fit or otherwise position your business with the new rules that define the New Economy, you rule!

Which is why "E-ComRules"... with new rules!

-------------------- BUSINESS SUCCESS AS THE "BOTTOM LINE":

Even non-profit organizations have to pay the bills.

Studies have shown that the most successful way to build community networks is through good business.  That's according to Dr. Scott Peck who is the guru of Community Building, the "bible" of which is his best seller, "World Waiting To Be Born - Civility Rediscovered".  Dr. Peck  is famous for his Community Building Workshops (CBW's) as well as for his many other best-selling books like, "The Road Less Traveled", "The Different Drum" and "People of The Lie".

What Dr. Peck has found doing CBW's is that of all the communities he has worked with, (education, health care, government, business, religious, etc.) he has found that the most successful CBW's are more often the business communities.  And the least successful are typically religious communities.

Think about that.  It's clear here that the true test of spirituality is practicality -- bottom line results. Conversely, in a religious community where the leadership believes religiously in lording it over the membership with old paradigm methods of ministering rather than empower their members with Net-centric capabilities that makes them "virtual messengers of God"... that community may be divided against itself, warring between old and new paradigms of spreading or "BEing" the Word.

Or as Dr. Scott Peck says, "The idea that God is actively nurturing us so that we may grow up to be like Him brings us face to face with our laziness.  Laziness is love's opposite.  So original sin does exist; it is our laziness.  Each of us represents the whole human race; within each of us is the instinct of godhood and the hope for mankind, and within each of us is the original sin of laziness." --from "The Road Less Traveled".

-------------------- NETWORKING FOR NET WORTH

There are three types of networking that, when integrated, provide a synergistic whole that is far greater in its effect for building your network and Net worth.

"Power networking" is the more assertive model referred to by Tom Peters in the quote at the top of this page.  The context is typically in the business world and from business-to-business (B2B).

"Wisdom networking" is the "Computer Assisted Networking" (CAN) that brings higher standards to on-line telecomm and does for the Net-working Industry what "CAD" (Computer Assisted Design) did for the revolution in productivity and multi-billion $ profits for manufacturing industries.

"Love networking" is the person-to-person, heart-to-heart networking typified by AMWAY and Multi-Level Marketing (MLM).  It's the original "high touch" networking that personalized relations for the best "value-added" effect.

This "3-fold flame" of Power~Wisdom~Love networking, when balanced, creates a value-added whole that is perhaps the best criteria for qualifying 4th Wave (online) business success.

To better understand the most important E-Commerce success components, go to the article, "3-D Networking for Net Worth" at www.HEARTcom.org/CANDO.htm This was published years ago on two of the largest on-line newsgroups that address Internet marketing.

This article provides a comprehensive overview of the four stages of the Computer Revolution as defines unprecedented opportunity with the emerging "Fourth Wave" right now.

-----------------------------NEWSBITES:

B2B E-COMMERCE COMES OUT OF THE CLOSET

Forrester Research predicts that firms will conduct more than $3.2 trillion in business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce by 2003. And some of the most adept players have taken this forecast to heart. Tech giant Intel, known for its ubiquitous processors, has quietly been turning itself into a B2B e-commerce heavyweight. Its e-commerce operations have generated $1 billion a MONTH for the past year, and customer satisfaction averages above 90%. Success secrets? Listen to your customers and make things easy: Intel's e-business Web site is functionally designed; gizmo-rich graphics and moving objects simply aren't there. "Not everyone has a fast connection," explained an Intel manager. "It's a secure site, and the encryption degrades connectivity. So customers told us to strip out the graphics, put as much as possible on the front page, and minimize the number of clicks required."  Simplify, standardize, maintain flexibility and remain market driven. "Don't let IT or logistics build what's easiest for the company," she added. "Build what your customers need." ("Inside Intel.com's E-Commerce Strategy," Knowledge@Wharton Dec 1999)

RULES OF THE NEW NET GAME FOR "NET GAIN"

Silicon Valley pioneer Howard Tullman, who created some early consumer-oriented Web sites, including CareerPath.com and Tunes.com (recently sold to EMusic.com for $176 million), is something of an elder statesman in the e-commerce domain. Tullman, who currently operates his own venture capital fund, talked with the Chicago Tribune about what it takes to strike gold in today's maturing online environment. Surprisingly, Tullman dismisses the conventional wisdom that to be successful online, one needs to be the first in the game. "First-mover status isn't going to matter," he explains. "What's going to matter is fast follower. Remember that Yahoo! was the fourth search engine, not the first. No one remembers that. It's not about being first but about assembling the best package and staying for the long term." Much more important than being first, says Tullman, is being loudest -- "It's a question of trying to break through the clutter." The company that can successfully identify a problem, show how they're going to fix it, and show people how their lives will be improved as a result will reap the biggest rewards.
