REVIEW: The Movie "Crash" and the Class of Civilizations

It's not surprising that the Hollywood movie industry was making a statement regarding their values -- or lack of them -- when the Academy Awards chose "Crash" as the best picture of the year.

In box office voting by our pocketbooks, "Crash" ranked 49th. By contrast, the film based on one of Christian writer C.S. Lewis's Narnia books (Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe), grossed more than all five of the Academy's nominees for "best picture" combined.

Film critic Dr. Marc T. Newman notes, "Eighty percent of this year's Best Picture nominees are rated R, but 90 percent of the top-20 grossing films were rated G, PG, or PG-13. Many of those films opened opportunities to talk about virtues, the darkness of sin, and the importance of family and sacrifice."

The movie "Crash" is a good metaphor for the cultural "clash of civilizations" right now. Lots of tragedy with conflicting perceptions and little apparent resolution of the tragedy except by chance.  The theme in both is "mis-matched Belief Systems" (BS happens) -- but the real tragedy is the self-serving system that feeds on "BS" tragedy while speaking high-sounding words of "art" and "freedom".

To say that the movie industry would have us reflect on tragic "Crash" consciousness is like saying that the U.S. government would have us go along with tragic policies for the clash of civilizations. Unfortunately, neither are a reflection of higher conscience.  If virtuous standards for the Family of Man were the criteria, the sitting government wouldn't be in power and the embedded media wouldn't be in bed with it.

I'd like to think that people watching TV and those following the endless war tragedy on the Internet would "get it" -- the jaded perceptual "BS" that perpetuates the on-going tragedy.  It's natural to assume that intelligent people have the intelligence to see through the provocateur creation and heartless management of tragedy for profit and influence. It's also understandable that a media subservient to corrupt government powers would attempt to subvert higher intelligence with ideological propaganda.

As I was finishing this article, I ran across this telling review of "Crash": "Entertainment is the subtlest and most effective means of ideological indoctrinating. It creates a psychological opening through which cultural messages bypass the intellectual filters that arrest most input for critical analysis. Because the context for these messages is 'entertainment', they get a free pass into the mind's cultural context, where they compete, at a subconscious level, with established ethical and moral standards."

Of course, Americans don't think they are suffering from ideological propaganda, and that's the real danger in the "Crash and Clash" syndrome. As media critic, Robert McChesney said, "The first rule of being a great propaganda system and why our system is vastly superior to anything in the old soviet Union is not that people think they are being subject to propaganda... people don't think that - they aren't looking for that - they are much easier to propagandize... and that's the genius of our media system.  It's a system of ideology, of control, compared to an authoritarian system."

Personally, I don't see the "genius" in a system that subverts virtue in the Constitution with ideological mind control through "Crash and Clash" BS.  Or as Mark Crispen Miller wrote, "Media manipulation in the U.S. today is more efficient than it was in Nazi Germany, because here we have the pretense that we are getting all the information we want. That misconception prevents people from even looking for the truth."

We can moralize that mainstream media and our government representatives should serve the purpose of resolving human tragedy. They both like to put on a good face as though they do.  They have the power to influence the world like no media or government in history.

But where is the resolution of victim dictum in "Crash and Clash"?  As the recipient of the 2003 Gandhi Peace Award, Dennis Kucinich, said: "We are not victims of the world we see; we are victims of the way we see the world."

It's an interesting conundrum -- this "Crash" of human perceptions and "Class" of Civilizations. To the extent it is the prevailing paradigm of consciousness, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy with no resolution. The more that people bring the message of "Crash" and "Clash" into their prevailing awareness, the more it becomes the justice that "just is".

Social justice is difficult when social norms are decadent.  We can't see the problem when we are part of it. Reality is the heaven or hell we make it. When our consciousness mirrors the world of "Crash and Clash", we lose sight of the moral measure for conscience.

People see what they want to see.  Many are those who see the problem with every opportunity -- the natural cynicism that identifies with the tragic reality of "only human" perceptions.  Few are those who see the opportunity with this problem -- the clarity of higher conscience that sees the highest and best use of new media governance models that resolve the perceptual blindness of "Crash" and "Clash".

The most common failing of mindless "sheople" (tragedy followers) is their perception of reality as self-absorbed victims. Or as Mark Twain quipped, "We are discreet sheep; we watch which way the drove is going, and then we follow the drove."  Likewise, the most common failing of well-intended "shepherds" (servant leaders) is too often the self-serving perception of the victim's reality. The former endlessly revolves the problem -- as part of it -- while the latter perpetuates the problem by pandering to it without any real solution.  Each has their own self-absorbed reality in co-dependence on the other. 

Common sense would say that the resolution of this common failing is being less "self-absorbed" -- less egocentric in worldly terms of power and success. Big government thrives on public clamoring for more government solutions .  Corporate media thrives on "Crash" and the endless war reporting on the Clash of Civilizations.  Both serve their self-absorbed interest in prestige, profit and the perks of power through big business collusion with big government - the definition of fascism.

Fascism can only exist with the inversion, subversion and perversion of "patriotism". Or as Emma Goldman qualifies the term, "Conceit, arrogance and egotism are the essentials of patriotism.... Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who had the fortune of being born on some particular spot, consider themselves better, nobler, grander, more intelligent than the living beings inhabiting any other spot. It is, therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill, and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all others."

We can say it was "true patriots" who founded the Great Experiment in representative government, but the term "patriot" has been clearly bastardized by encroaching fascism that force-feeds the "Crash and Clash" syndrome with pseudo-patriotism.  Where are the "true patriots" today?  I believe Mark Twain was referring to them when he said, "In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."

So what is the "Common Sense" solution that Thomas Paine would champion today?  People want to see a resolution of the senseless and endless human tragedy.  We can honestly hope and pray that mankind will choose a way out of this mess through the "angels of our better nature" as Tom Paine encouraged. 

But the mainstream media and sitting government don't see it that way. They have their own reasons that make "Crash" and "Clash" a metaphor for their own agenda. Their Machievellian matrix is the world that has been pulled over our eyes to blind us from the truth. The wolves in sheep's clothing pull the wool of "Crash and Clash" over our eyes just as Nero distracted the Roman populace with Bread and Circuses.

We can believe with moral conviction that the modern media should reflect higher standards of consciousness just as our own government should reflect higher standards of representing "We the people".  But the reality is the "value of scarcity" in prevailing scarcity economics that is sabotaging the potential for enlightened media and honorable government.

Ultimate scarcity is the end game of the REAL terrorists behind 9-11. They are diametrically opposed to the enlightened conscience that reflects and perfects enlightened solutions to human tragedy.

The REAL patriots understand both "the globalist problem" and it's global resolution.

The Resolution of "Crash" and "Clash"

There are no human solutions to human problems - only divine solutions of higher conscience.  Human solutions typically compound the problem with more tragedy for humanity. Better than endless dissent over "the problem" is attention to the solution with conscientious common sense.  Better than endless reflection on the endless war metaphor for "tragic reality" is the pursuit of higher conscience regarding the self-evident solution.

The resolution of "Crash" consciousness and the "Clash" of civilizations is simple enough.  Healing the 9-11 psychotic break with reality is as simple as reclaiming the inherent power in our free-will, pure intent for the "God Truth", and our divine right to change our media-government environment to better serve the purpose for which it was created. Today that would better represent all of "US" -- United Sovereigns -- in our global village.

The resolution of external mind control manipulation has always been internal mind control disciplines. The success of the individual is the same for the success of civilization-at-large.  Indeed, the "Father" of the industry of success publications, Napoleon Hill, 1883-1970, said it well:

"You are searching for the magic key that will unlock the door to the source of power; and yet you have the key in your own hands, and you may use it the moment you learn to control your thoughts."

Cultural conflict at the service of endless war is hardly a clever mind control ruse or merely a violation of conscience. It is a crime against humanity. It will stop when we assert our divine right for genuine freedom through self-control of our minds and media for the meeting of minds.  If it doesn't come from within, it will be imposed without.

We shape our media-government environment and then the media-government environment shapes us. All social problems are, at heart, communication problems - how we "come-into-unity".  The natural evolution of the instant-everywhere-interactive web of consciousness -- the computer/Internet revolution -- has brought humanity to a global awareness of our "global village" status.  Our connection compels conscience as will culture "Net reality" with higher intelligence and self-control.

With this new status REALITY -- how we are ALL connected NOW -- comes the self-evident need for those governing principles and mediation capabilities that are most likely to insure our safety and happiness.

Heaven knows we've always had a conscience but not always used it. To the extent we utilize the gold standard for conscience to shape our all-connected "Net reality", the virtue of personal and planetary sovereignty becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

In short, humanity has a choice -- the divine right of free will -- to transcend the mind control matrix of terror-tyranny dictates. Where we put our attention is what we "worth-ship". Intelligence without conscience is like power without principle... or religion without spirituality. As Napoleon Hill said, "We achieve what we conceive and believe."

Without mindful attention to that cognition process, we default to the outer world's prevailing Belief System of "Crash and Clash". If we mindlessly mirror what the outer world does, we'll get what we've always got. To expect different results -- without conscience -- is a good definition for insanity.

The promise of the Prophets of Divine Law who inspired the Patriarchs of God Government is that we will have a better world to the extent we fulfill the rule of law through the Law of LOVE. An individual or civilization can rise no higher than it's "mediation" (connection) with this "inner sense" (innocence) that governs outer reality. Without that innocence we are guilty for lack of conscience.

This is where the computer/Internet revolution is going... beyond physical technology to spiritual, mental, emotional and physical techniques for outpicturing the conscientious common sense of greater LOVE.  The Internet is just a tool -- a vehicle -- for getting us there. An open Internet is the best vehicle we have for evolving the laws and language of consciousness itself -- the quintessential foundation of "self governance".

When we focus on the solution for our networks of consciousness, we "take heart" -- there's hope. When we become more conscious of HOW we are conscious -- how the Language of Consciousness can mediate the self-governing process for personal and planetary conscience -- we naturally free our minds and hearts for evolutionary growth.

The result -- both individually and collectively -- is the natural evolution of our media-governance models. Global conscience becomes an externalization of the internal-eternal reality that governs "Effective Sensory Perception"; true "ESP" with virtuous gifts of the holy Spirit of LOVE-in-action. 

As the globalists are made accountable to global conscience, the love of power is checked and balanced by the power of LOVE.

As global Netizens acknowledge this simple yet profound Truth -- how to navigate our cyberspace connection with innerspace virtues -- the Internet will evolve with the InnerNet reality of LOVE.  It is the divine destiny of Earth's evolution to culture a new media environment with a new governance model. That environmental model will network the Net worth of the new "Next Economy" based on the abundant CONSCIENCE that is the genesis of freedom and opportunity for the "Abundant Life".

The best way to move beyond the human tragedy of "Crash and Clash" is uniting the Family of Man with the gold standard for mindful attention. This is the self-evident media-management model that heals incivility and cultures the Spirit that matters in all Golden Age civilizations.

Pay attention.  Attention pays with a "gold mine" of freedom and opportunity... if only we "mind it".

It's time for civilization to grow up. Champion the rEVOLUTION.
